On 25 September 2025, world leaders gathered in New York for the 4th High-Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly (HLM4) to set the international agenda for NCDs through 2030 and beyond. Halfway to 2030, progress toward reducing premature mortality from NCDs by one-third as established by the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3.4 is off track, while gaps in investment and in equitable access to NCD prevention, care, and support are growing.
Improving nutrition and food systems globally plays a critical role in accelerating progress toward this and other key SDGs.The World Public Health Nutrition Association submitted a letter and a statement regarding the HLM NCDs on the 20th of September, 2025 (see below).
