From the Association President
Welcome!
Happy and healthy new generations: what we are all working to achieve
Welcome to the World Public Health Nutrition Association (the Association). Welcome to our website, which is renewed and updated every month, and to our on-line journal World Nutrition, which is also monthly.
The Association makes real an idea whose time has been overdue. Our members form a global network. The Association itself has two overall purposes. One is to further the mission of public health nutrition, to prevent disease, and also to promote well-being. The other is to build our professional capacity and to represent the interests of our and allied professions.
These two purposes are two sides of the same coin. Further, the union of nutrition, a profession and a science, with public health, a multi-dimensional science and a never-ending campaign, gives us our special sense of purpose. Wholly independent, and affiliated with the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS), the Association is unique.
The Association’s Council, and its membership from 40 countries, have a shared vision. We provide a dynamic forum to exchange views, and support one another in our work. We are the voice of public health nutrition. We welcome members at all stages in their careers, and from all parts of the world.
As professionals we need to be trained, mentored and supported throughout our careers. We are also committed to advocacy and action reliably based on evidence. We work to ensure that in all possible circumstances, adequate nourishing food is available to and affordable by all.
If you want to help make the world a better place – and this means the living and physical world, not just the human world – become an active member. Together we can achieve our aims. It is time to stop doubting or waiting for others to act. There is more information in our ‘About Us’ area. Also please click on ‘Services’ and you will find out how to become an active member. This is a call to action addressed to all Association members and potential members, designed to liberate the skills, energy and commitment of us all.
