About us

About this website

This is the website of the World Public Health Nutrition Association (WPHNA, or the Association). Contributions are usually made by Association members.

This is a new venture, and we would like to give a sense of the policies guiding the contents of our website.

Every month we will publish a new issue, with a gradually increasing number of news, commentary and other contributions. The website will continue to include standard permanent sections, such as our services for members. It will accumulate a steadily increasing number of members' profiles, as you can see every month. The number of blogs (columns) will also steadily increase and in time will be written by Association members from all regions of the world.

What is here is published for you and on your behalf. Some of the main contributions, including all commentaries, invited responses and comments, include the facility for immediate responses. Please say what you think, and if you want to make your own contribution, say so too.

This website is not a scientific journal, although it will contain contributions of a learned nature. At this stage it is our journal of news, ideas and views, as well as being the expression of our services to Association members and to everybody else who accesses the site. If you are not now a member, please apply to join us: simply access 'membership' on the home page and follow the instructions.

Unless explicitly otherwise stated, the contents of this website should not be taken to be the official position of the World Public Health Nutrition Association.

Signed columns (blogs) and other signed contributions are the responsibility of their authors. We intend in due course to develop a full range of regular and occasional contributors, or articles as well as commentary, in terms of age, gender and attitude, as well as location. This is hard to achieve in a print journal and – in principle – easy to achieve in an electronic journal. Writers for and other contributors to this website are not paid, in case you wondered. We have no staff of sub-editors, so contributions must be prepared ready to be mounted on the site. If you are interested, simply say so, by responding below.

We also propose to publish more substantial papers, and also news and information ahead of events – such as conferences – and reviews after events and publications. As with columns (blogs) what we most want are regular contributions from Association members prepared to commit to writing regularly or occasionally for say a year and to follow our house style.

We are also looking for volunteers who know how to prepare, design and shape material for websites, so that contributions including all graphic and other visual material is ready for our webmeister ..
